- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪Dr. Wheeler, while being a OB-GYN for 31 years, missed something as simple as my daughter's hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Every other medical person we spoke to after Amelia was transferred to West Virginia University said that it should have been caught at 18 weeks or beyond on an ultrasound. After missing that diagnosis, he didn't even tell us the truth about whether it could have been caught or not. He said it could not have been caught early. Catching it early may not have made a difference to Amelia's overall outlook, but it could have prepared us for what was ahead for us and would not have had my wife's tubes tied, as Dr. Wheeler suggested she do before hand.
